 Theme performance/battery issues
Article To improve the overall theme and BlackBerry performance, please follow these steps:

Step 1:

If you have enabled our theme without performing a hard reboot once it was activated, the theme and device will experience performance issues and must be rebooted. It is also standard for a BlackBerry device to get sluggish over time and it is often recommended to reboot occasionally so that your device remains in peak performance.

How to perform a Hard Reboot:
Remove the battery from your device.
Wait about 10 seconds.
Re-insert the battery.

Step 2:

If your memory is too low, this can cause performance issues. To verify the amount left:

For OS 6.0:
On the BlackBerry's Home screen, tap "All", then open "Options".
Select "Device" > "Device and Status Information".

For Previous OS versions:
On the BlackBerry's Home screen, open "Options".
Select "Status".

The memory left is called: "File Free".
You should have more than 12 000 000 Bytes left (approx: 12 MB).
If the amount shown is lower, you will need to remove some applications/files from your device.

Step 3:

Make sure that you are not running too many applications in the background. Also when exiting a program, be sure to close it using the "Escape" key and never with the red "End" key. This will leave every application running in the background and will cause major performance and battery life issues.

To verify how many applications you have running in the background:

Open the menu and select "Switch Application".
This will show you a list of all the applications running in the background.
Make sure to close the ones that aren't needed (please note that some applications cannot be closed such as the Browser for example).

Step 4:

Make sure that you have the latest OS version for your device installed. These updates can often resolve and improve performance issues from earlier releases.

To make sure you have the latest OS version for your device:

Load the BlackBerry Desktop Manager v6.0 (or higher) on your computer.
If you do not have this latest version, you can download it here:
http://na.blackberry.com/eng/services/desktop

Once you connect your BlackBerry to the computer, the BlackBerry Desktop Manager will detect if a new OS version is available for your device.

Step 5:

If you have the Torch (9800), it is highly recommended that you always use the screen lock button (left button on the top of the BlackBerry) when the device is not in use. This will greatly increase your battery life.
